COMMUNITY-BASED MENTORING
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dutchess County is enrolling volunteers from all over the county who want to have FUN, just by taking a few hours each month being a friend to a promising child in our community.
Do you remember that one person, whether it was a teacher, aunt, uncle, or family friend that made your day just by spending time with you? Now it’s your chance to make that magic happen.
In the Community-Based program volunteers spend 6 to 8 hours a month with a child in the community doing things together such as; going to the park, riding bikes, swimming, flying a kite, baking cookies, gardening, fishing, hiking, playing catch with a baseball, shooting hoops, watching a movie, doing arts and crafts or just talking. By sharing these little moments and experiences with a child you open up the world to them, and THAT they will remember forever.
