Heating Equipment Repair & Replacement (HERR)
The
Heating Repair and Replacement Program is offered through the
Department of Social Services. If during the "heating season" your
heating system stops running due to need of repair or replacement, the
Department of Social Services (DSS) will pay to repair or replace the
equipment under the HERR program. You must meet HEAP income guidelines
to qualify. Dutchess County Community action Partnership is the
General Contractor for the HERR program. Once DSS determines your
eligibility you will be referred to DCCAP to have the work completed.
How does it work?
Once
DSS notifies DCCAP your application has been approved, we put the
contract out for bid to Dutchess County heating contractors. At the
end of the bidding period a contractor will be selected and the
equipment will be repaired or replaced at no cost to you. DSS, under
the HERR program, will pay the cost.
If
you need assistance applying for the HERR program, or need additional
information, please contact us at any of our branch offices. You can
also e-mail us at energy@dutchessCAP.org.
