Weatherization
The
goal of the Weatherization Program is to reduce the amount of energy
used to heat the home. The majority of homes in New York State were
built when energy was relatively inexpensive. These homes are
significantly more costly to heat than a newer energy-efficient home.
Home Weatherization
The
cost of heating your home continues to rise every day. Having
Weatherization work done on your home could help you or someone you
know, save energy dollars plus increase the comfort in your home.
Homeowners
and renters are both eligible for Weatherization services. To be
eligible for the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), your gross
income must fall within the HEAP guidelines. You may be categorically
eligible if you receive TANIF, Food Stamps, HEAP or SSI.
There
is no charge to eligible applicants. However, on rental units,
non-eligible building owners are required to invest at least 35% of the
cost of the weatherization work.
