The Emergency Cooling Initiative, funded by the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, assists low-income households with documented medical conditions that are exacerbated by the heat with an air conditioner.
The process for Emergency Cooling is new this year. Applications for Emergency Cooling assistance, A/C installation, will be approved by Dutchess County Children and Family Services (DSS).
Anyone seeking assistance will be required to complete an application at The County Department of Social Services, complete with a Doctor’s note identifying the medical condition and the need for cooling intervention. If the application is approved, the client will choose their vendor.
Dutchess County Community Action Agency, Inc. will, again this year, be a participating vendor. Jackie Chapman, firstname.lastname@example.org, is the primary contact for this initiative. She can be reached at 845-876-1611 opt. 3. There is also an after hours number, 845-437-0050. Please leave a name and number and the call will be returned the next business day.
