Emergency Fuel: Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) and Energy Crisis Intervention program (ECIP) can help low-income families with temporary emergency fuel, regardless of the type of heating you use to heat your home. Energy Fuel After Hour Hotline: If you need emergency fuel after 4pm, please call 845-437-0050. You will be asked what part of Dutchess County you live in and they will provide you with the nearest gas station that distributes fuel. Operators will inform you of the documentation to bring. Energy Savings: Our Weatherization program helps home owners and tenants in Multi-Unit housing get the services they need to help minimize the cost of energy and help save you money. Dutchess County Community & Family Services (DCCFS)– Emergency Shelters/Warming Centers, The Living Room, located at 29 North Hamilton Street in Poughkeepsie
For individuals in need of overnight shelter, Hudson River Housing picks up individuals from the Living Room at 7 pm and brings them to the Webster House where they are provided with a meal and a warm place to sleep until they are brought back to Poughkeepsie at 7 am after receiving breakfast.
Note: DCFS does not use the Living Room nor the Webster House for families. Families should call the helpline at 845-485-9700 for further information.
