CAPDC partners with Dutchess County Office for the Aging to help seniors in the Beacon area. Seniors register with the Office for the Aging to participate in the Beacon Friendship Center Transportation program and/or the Beacon Meals program. For seniors who have registered for the program, CAPDC provides transportation to the center and back home and delivers meals to those who are homebound.
Office for the Aging: Friendship Centers
The Dutchess County Office for the Aging operates eight Friendship Centers throughout the county, where older adults can enjoy a tasty, nutritious meal as well as social activities and fellowship, usually Monday through Thursday.
The following sites are also open on Fridays: City of Beacon, Town of East Fishkill, City of Poughkeepsie and Town of Red Hook.
The Pawling site is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays only.
Transportation is available in most cases.
In the event of inclement weather, Friendship Centers may be closed. Advisories will be posted on Dutchess County Government social media at facebook.com/DutchessCoGov. Advisories are also sent to participating area broadcast media, and Friendship Center site managers will reach out to clients with advisories.
